During lockdown it was realised that over eight million people in Britain had no garden or immediate outdoor space. The importance of nature for our health and wellbeing is well established, so we set about exploring how we could design a single bedroom apartment that could transform into a garden and back again.

We quickly realised that a garden is not just about plants, it needs views, breathing space, wild and formal areas. We played with what each room should be, the kitchen an allotment, the bathroom a pond, the living room a lawn. The real breakthrough came when we started to flip our approach and design a beautiful garden that could become a house!

We worked closely with stylist Jane Field Lewis and horticulturist Alys Fowler to ensure the plants would survive the experiment.

The result was a playful experiment, creatively fusing our favourite garden features with interior design.
